Executive Director, Demand Disruption
Joe Madison is a husband of 31 years, a proud father of 3 and a native Houstonian. In 2016, Joe left the Oil & Gas industry after a 25 year career in strategic sales to volunteer fighting human trafficking. In the ten years since, he’s stood in brothels, worked with law enforcement, transported survivors to safety, counseled parents, learned from the exploited, the exploiters & the buyers & came to one realization: addressing the demand for commercial sex is the most effective way to end sex trafficking. Today, Joe is the Executive Director of Demand Disruption, a buyer-informed non-profit organization that fights the demand for trafficking by eliminating buyer motivation and reducing access to the exploited. To date, Demand Disruption has met with over 1,000 men arrested for solicitation of prostitution. If we've learned anything, it's that men need safe spaces: spaces to feel seen and heard, spaces to be respected and challenged, and spaces to talk about the influences of culture and upbringing on their experiences. Buyers aren't born, they're made. And they're made in the same world we are raising our children in. It's time we talk about it.
